Hello everyone! Noodles was kind enough to allow me to stream a couple movies this upcoming Saturday at 6pm EST. Unfortunately, I don't actually have a theme, I just have a couple of movies that I wanted to share. :3

First up, the tragic tale of sex, drugs, and murder, as told with musical theater!



Alan Cumming narrates this tale of terror as the film follows two young lovers, played by Kristen Bell, and Christian Campbell as they deal with the worst drug menace of our time- reefer. 

Rated R for drug material, sexual content and some violence".
It's 109 minutes long.

After that, it's a tale of two brothers, granted, there's some other stuff thrown in their for a plot, but mostly about the two brothers. 

 

I honestly don't even know how to sell this one to you all; it's Thor, it's pretty boys fighting elves in space, with some sciencey stuff thrown in to provide some sort of "plot". :D 

Rated PG-13 for "sequences of intense sci-fi action and violence, and some suggestive content"
112 minutes long

This is one of those need for help how to get help i know I over think everything it is a problem i can't communicate well anything i say or do will be used either for or against me but it is all in my mind as i to how i talk and think and act and i guess i don't guess i know i'm supposed to see a therapist but if if the person you went to you didn't like because they tended to start talking before you ended a sentence well is that seen as one of your faults and you need to correct that because it's a sign of wanting to state how everything should be said towards or is it all your fault for everything and really how is this all going to work when a relative that has driven on the road for four hours is coming to visit and we've all now had this chat about things are wrong and you know they are wrong and what is supposed to be your next step when your reaction to want to withdraw is seen as wrong and not allowed but really this all happened an hour ago and you know you need to get food but now it's going to be food with family and you'd rather not and now you'll be judged for it all and you're going to get a headache and in your head you wonder how this is all going to work but everything you think is judged and seen as wrong and oh god help

fandom friend advice

Basic background: I'm a silent lurker on tumblr for many of the reasons that a lot of people don't like the site, on top of being personally pretty bad at overcoming my own shyness. I follow things for fannish content and entertainment, but do not interact. So when I see posts that get under my skin, instead of reblogging and participating, I often just vent privately to a close fandom friend in chat.

The issue I've noticed happening several times is that even though my friend and I often have very different takes on things, I'll shortly thereafter see her reblog the exact thing I mentioned... with what are basically my exact points retooled as if they're her original thoughts on the matter cleaned up into the kind of modes of speech that earn you tumblr-fame points. Being perfectly politically correct, etc. It kind of goes like this: I mention something knowing we'll probably disagree, but this is someone I feel (felt?) secure enough with to have little debates with. I sometimes convince her of my thinking whether trying to or not. She then presents my thinking as if it were always hers and then I see numerous reblogs praising "her" thinking and contributions.

Is it completely irrational for this to bother me, and should I mention it to her? It's not that I'm looking for name-dropping or anything-- the more invisible I stay on tumblr the better as far as my peace of mind goes. I think it's more that I feel used on these occasions, as if someone I trusted has started taking advantage of my private openness with her to piggyback on my thoughts without even saying anything so simple as "I just had a conversation with a friend and wound up feeling like such-and-such afterwards." It feels sort of like she's being intellectually dishonest and using me to do it.

(An example of the kind of thing I'm talking about: some sj-themed post goes around. Knowing her, she'd be likely to reblog it with approval. But I natter on at her about "this bugs me in its lack of attention to x and y and z issues, [insert complaints about tumblr culture here]." And then she's suddenly posting some lengthy essay on the subject of "friendly reminder, guys, we need to consider x and y and z." Cue dozens of reblogs and then a round of her publishing asks saying how great she is.)

tl;dr I'm starting to resent one of my best friends because it feels like she uses me to earn points on tumblr and its affecting my ability to be open with her like has always been important to me.

Classism in fandom

We always hear a lot about racism, sexism, homophobia; but what about classism? Have you seen fellow fans express classist ideas in their interpretations and meta about a canon, or show classism in their opinion of a character?

Does it make me sexist against my own gender...

As I have grown older (I just hit 25) I have noticed that little peach fuzz around the edge of my face (and a lot of people's faces) has gotten darker - I even had a couple dark long ones that freaked me right the fuck out. I panicked and began tweezing but it doesn't really last that long. I thought about laser hair removal but it's so expensive. What do you do to get rid of unwanted facial hair?
