And, if you shared it to anyone, how was it received?

When I was about 12 my big brother made a forum dedicated to Dragonball Z, where people discussed DBZ and my brother published his own fanfic. So I wrote one too. It was about Frieza and Cell having to work as cashiers in a supermarket, after being banished from Hell for fighting. It was very well-liked, but then again my audience was made up of preteen boys, friends of my brother and I. Because of the good reception, I wrote two more chapters of the thing.

I don't know how to help with my roommate.

My roommate is the type of person who curls up on the floor sobbing because she got one question wrong on a (re-takable) quiz. She's constantly down on herself, comparing herself to everyone else in her major in a negatively light. When it comes to stress, she's so stressed out that it's sometime's painful to watch, and the anger borne of it (while rare) isn't fun to live with.

I've been trying to help her as much as I can, compliments on her stuff, offers of help, trying to get her out of the house on days when we've been inside for the whole day, staring at computer screens/textbooks/whatever, but I don't know what to do anymore; her stress is starting to stress me out, and while I love her, I don't know how to deal with it myself.

I've tried to get her to go to the school stress center, but she keeps making excuses as for why she can't. (She has too much school, even though she doesn't have classes on Fridays, she doesn't actually think it will help, even though she's never been, etc.) and I don't want to push, but I don't think I can be the person she talks to anymore. I don't know if I can be the one that tries to play psychiatrist/psychologist when I have school to, and I just, I don't know how to handle it.

I'm tempted to go to the school center myself, whether or not she goes, but on a level of 1-10, how dumb of an idea is it to go to a psych doctor (honestly can't remember which kind I can go to at the school) to talk about how stressed out I'm getting from her stress?

I just feel like a horrible person on top of that; it's not even my issues that I need to work on, but I don't know what to do. I want to help her, but I don't know how, and nothing I've tried actually works.

tl;dr I think I need to talk to a psychiatrist about how my roommate needs to go to one, because I am not actually a psychiatrist, and I don't know how to help he, or deal with her when I can't help.

Sorry to be 'that person', FS, but I have a major emergency on my hands and would be so grateful for any help. :( I'm in the middle of filling out job applications, about to run out of money and today my computer stopped working properly.

To be more specific: it's slow, it shows as being connected to the internet but none of the web browsers can access web pages (IE, Chrome, Firefox). Right now I'm restarting it but it's been stuck on the Windows 8 'restarting' screen for about ten minutes.

Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with it and/or how to fix it??

Does anyone else feel really weird about their own name?

My name is Julia. That name has continuously been in the top lists of baby names in my country (Germany) since the 70s. So I know a lot of people who are (also) named Julia. Sometimes people give me weird looks when I say a sentence like "Julia and I were sitting there" because in their head I am Julia. When they talk to me about other people who share my name they often call them "the other Julia" as in "I called Julia yesterday. *beat* You know, the other Julia."

To avoid confusion I've been given a nickname in elementary school that I absolutely hated but I went by that nickname for more than a decade. I stopped using it when I went to uni (hurray for fresh starts) so now everyone but the 3 friends I kept from school calls me by my actual name, Julia.

But I don't feel like that name is a part of my identity. I mean I'll react to it, I know when people mean me when they say it, I'll introduce myself with it. But I don't think of me as "Julia", I think of me as "ich" (German, I). Julia is another person. Julia is Julia N. from elementary school or Julia Z. one of the friends I wish I hadn't lost contact with or Julia one of the other bridesmaids at my best friend's wedding... Julia is not me.

Is it "normal" to feel like that?

What are some TV shows/movies/games that you watched just for the eye candy? Even if you eventually started watching it for more than that.

I started watching two shows for the hot guys. The first was Prison Break. I was all about Wentworth Miller for two seasons.

The second was Supernatural. My friends got me into by telling me, "There is this really hot guy who is an angel and another one who cries a lot." And thus, my love for Castiel and Dean was born. My friends know me so well.

How often do you cry? And is it usually in public or private? I've often wondered if I'm unusual in that regard.

Being really sad or touched doesn't make me cry, and I've never wept at a movie or what have you. I generally only cry once or twice a year, always a hearty sobbing and almost always in public (because I have to be thoroughly stressed and frustrated to cry and I don't usually get that way in the comfort of privacy). 27y.o. female, jsyk, and it's been like this basically forever.

This is carrying over from yesterday's thread, since folks seemed interested. So, an official 101 thread.

As mentioned a couple times in the past, I'm multiple. Dissociative Identity Disorder, multiple personalities, whatever. We make educational comics about it (and other mental health stuff) which have been used by shrinks, mental hospitals, and multiples themselves since 2008. I'll even be a speaker at the Ivory Garden Trauma and Dissociation Conference in October! (Though they misgender me on the site; I should tell them.)

A lot of people don't know very much about multiplicity, and there are a lot of myths and creepery surrounding it. So consider this thread open season to ask multi questions! The only subject that is completely off limits is my sex life; other than that, have at, and I'll let you know if it's something I don't know.

And why is it called "male-pattern" baldness? Why not just male baldness? Is there a specific pattern called "male?" So like even women can have "male-pattern" baldness because it's a pattern and and not a gender? I know that's not so, but it seems it would be if it were a type of pattern.

A question about Transitioning.

Hi LB, read through just about everything on your site, amazing resource, thanks for that. I'm trying to write a piece about a Multiple system in which one system member decides to be a hero/vigilante and Just had A question about transitioning between System Members. Any help you can give me would be amazing.

What does it feel like? I mean is it different for each member? Do you just open your eyes and you're looking out the hosts eyes,or is it more involved?

As an add on,what does it look like to the standard observer? I'm assuming the outside would be different for different systems in different hosts, but could members change control without someone knowing?
