I disagree with the censorship part. the unfortunate opinions regarding Indians are a reflection of the time the book was written in, and it seems dishonest to sanitize it. I think the racism in the book should actually be discussed with students (or whoever) rather than swept under the rug. the effect that colonialism had (and has) on literature is a pretty interesting and significant topic of discussion and it seems more harmful than helpful to pretend that it wasn't an issue

But on a more serious note, unfortunately when we look back at our childhood favorites, we've changed so much they're just not the same anymore.

I was obsessed with a DTV sequel to an animated childhood favorite for a long time. I took a break from it and watched it when I was 16 and suddenly I could see everything that everyone had criticized it for.

Ugh, PREACH. Those "best jokes" often aren't even funny or they're less funny out of context. And in the more dramatic trailers now we've got the trend of ~~hauntingly reinventing~~ a song in some shitty cover that was only recorded for this trailer (the only really cool example of this IMO was that bit of "Wild World" in the Comic Con trailer for Fury Road, it took me several times to even realize it was that song and it was sparingly used). And don't even get me started on the non-sequential cuts of dialogue that make it look like that character is saying something in reply to something that just happened and we can all tell it's just edited that way as a desperate attempt to not tell us anything about what actually fucking happens in this movie besides crappy attempts at banter.

I don't know her personally. I think she's enjoyably funny and witty, and that's all I feel qualified to really demand of a public figure and entertainer like her.
