Depressing Stream #1

So, because Noodles enjoys fellating me, this week he has turned the shitstream movie list over to me! This week, the movies will not be shit! However, because I am a harsh benefactor I have decided that he shall play only movies showcasing the darkest ennui this world has to offer. You're welcome.

First up will be a movie recommended by blessezmoi, guaranteed to make you feel either sad or claustrophobic*, or both. Starring Ryan Reynolds, directed by Chris Cortez, and with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 87%, it's Buried.

Second on the docket is a fucked up psychological horror classic. Chock full of visuals that inspired the likes of Silent Hill and your second cousin's film school final project, it's Jacob's Ladder!



It'll leave you wondering if reality is real and where the limits of sanity lie.

And to end things off, we'll be turning to a lighter note with Stephen King's The Mist. Most accurately termed an action horror, this film is really a commentary about what happens when small town mentality is reduced to life in a metaphorical petri dish on the verge of what might be the apocalypse. It's a personal favorite, and is definitely not to be missed.

Don't despair though, intermissions will be happy baby animal videos and heavy drinking so we don't all wind up crying into our safety blankets by the end of the night. Plus, as always, there's a porn parody for the after party and this week we'll be showing Tosh.Hole! Gay porn without skipping the sex scenes! It's a Christmas miracle!

So join us, won't you, for the first (and possibly last) time I'll be allowed to inflict my painful, painful film taste on the stream.

I woke and left the house an hour early for work. At the station I spilt coffee on myself so ok a detour for a new shirt. Then the team detour I'm taking breaks so I gotta get to work. Suddenly the bad knee decides it's too cold to function and I'm more limping than walking. Eventually get to cheap clothing store only everything is expensive new stock and nothing cheap so I waste $40 on some stupid brand name shirt that will probably fall apart in a week or be transparent in rain.

I'm almost at work, me leg hurts, I'm in such a bad mood and I'm running later than my usual arrival and effectively an hour and 15 mins late of my wanted arrival.

I hope everyone else gets to have as frustrating and miserable morning. Spread the misery.

Sometimes it seems like everyone - or at least every male - is considered attractive on here. Even someone like Peter Dinklage, is apparently not even "Hollywood ugly" but straight up attractive?

So what sort of person do you consider "Hollywood ugly" and what sort of person would you consider regular ugly?

I'm in a writing class right now, and we have this guy in our class that's at least in his 60's/70's, taking college classes for fun and all that.

For his final project short story, he wrote a story about a fifty year old who married a twenty-two year old who just so happened to have curves in all the right places, a bunch of guys hitting on her all the time (but she turns them down, naturally), and she's super sweet and kind and blah blah blah.

In my letter, and in the class, I pointed out that having a fifty year old guy marry a twenty-two year old might be a little creepy.

This week, I was talking with the teacher, and he mentioned that I mightn't have wanted to talk about that, in case "I hurt the feelings of a fifty year old who fell in love with a twenty-two year old" and it "happens all the time... In Hollywood."

He's normally a good teacher, but holy shit. I'm sorry, if you're fifty year old, and you're falling for a twenty year old, and you're ~feelings are hurt~ because someone calls you creepy... Grow the fuck up, and maybe think a little bit about why people are finding it creepy.

I know that it can happen in real life, and that it can be a fantasy for younger woman, etc. but this was definitely NOT from the POV of the young woman, and it fulfilling a fantasy for her; it was definitely an old man's fantasy. And you know what, having a fantasy is okay? But when you type it out for a short story for a class, and put it out for critique, people are welcome to critique you're creepy ass fantasies.

First semi-final was today. I couldn't catch it, but I've checked out all the songs on youtube and is it just me or is there just ton of songs with belting women? They get really boring and same-y after a while. Also more duets than usually.

I really dug Estonia's song, and I'm glad they made it to the finale.

I don't get it. I literally ate nothing but lean meat, eggs, fruits/veggies, and whole milk today.

Although I did cheat and have 250 calories of Oreos but CHRIST...why am I STILL so fucking hungry?

Seriously, I really don't want to be rude but she's placed herself in the center of already small room and have ignored any hints that I kind of need to pack. I'm leaving tomorrow and I have class most of the day, I'm not going to have a lot of time to pack otherwise. Any advice?
