A bitchy tone is okay for really annoying/frustrating examples of fanon that is mistaken for canon, but please feel free to also mention fanons that you really love too, and if you wish, feel free to explain why the fanon is good and makes sense.

I don't understand social networks and using them (at least most of the time). On Twitter, I tweeted to a restaurant that I had a really good pizza. Ok cool. The business follows me, favs the tweet, retweet's the tweet (that poor Tweety Bird…) and then responds back "thank you, have you checked us out on yelp?"

I get the retweet and the fav, no problem. I find it weird to follow me since I never followed them (am I under obligation to?) and now I wonder do I need to respond back to their question?

There are twitter etiquette sites, but again, confusion prevails.

The Patient's Eyes by David Pirie (is really good)

As the book cover says, it's "A Compelling Riddle Featuring Arthur Conan Doyle and Dr. Joseph Bell." Does that sound awesome to you? Have no fear, because it totally is!

I ordered this based on a recommendation from dreemyweird. It came in the mail on Saturday, and it's been in my hands every spare second until now, and IT IS SO GOOD YOU GUYS. Doyle's voice is excellent and the mystery is chewy and dark and Doyleish with little pockets of poignancy everywhere and the author does a great job of evoking a time and place without wearing his research like a giant heavy cloak with "I DID RESEARCH!!" in rhinestones.

I haven't finished it yet, so it could still turn out to have a terrible ending I guess, but the author's earned my trust enough that by the 100 page mark I'd already ordered the next book in the series. I'm both reluctant and anxious to finish AND excited to pass it on to other people once I'm done with it, the best kind of book feeling.

Update on My Boss Situation

(I'm the anon who posted a few weeks back about having a boss that called me "sweetie" and didn't know her boundaries.)

I finally told her that I don't feel comfortable being called sweetie and like I expected her to do, she immediately said that she's not doing it as a way to come on to me and that she's not gay and that it's her personality to do that; however, she did also say that she'll try not to do it as much since it's so ingrained in her to do call people "sweetie" and "honey".

She's done it a couple times since but quickly corrected herself and apologized, but I was too busy working in those times to tell if she was being sarcastic in her apologies; I guess I'll have to pay more attention next time.
